Chiang Rai travel, close to the mountains with stunning views that will leave you in awe – ‘Katiliya Mountain Resort and Spa’.

When thinking about visiting Chiang Rai, the first accommodation that comes to mind is ‘Katiliya Mountain Resort and Spa.’ This large resort allows us to get as close to the mountains as possible, surrounded by a truly romantic ambiance. If you want to breathe in the fresh air to your heart’s content and be as close to the mountains as possible, then this is the place for you – ‘Katiliya Mountain Resort and Spa’.

“Katiliya Mountain Resort and Spa” is a large resort that emphasizes privacy. The hotel itself is reasonably distant from the main road, ensuring a peaceful atmosphere. Though the access road might be a bit remote, it’s not challenging to navigate. Upon arrival, any fatigue dissipates instantly, thanks to the beautiful and well-maintained gardens. The accommodation buildings and lobby are impressive.

First of all, I’d like to mention the new highlight of “Katiliya Mountain Resort and Spa,” which is the “Katiliya Park,” also known as an Animal Sanctuary or a sanctuary for adorable animals to relax. It’s a spacious garden with ponds and abundant trees, providing a tranquil environment for the animals. The natural habitats of these animals are preserved to the fullest extent possible. The location of “Katiliya Park” is just before reaching the resort, indicated by a signboard. Visitors can stop by to admire it before checking in, or the hotel can arrange a viewing upon check-in. Such a wide-ranging project is truly remarkable.

White swans, black swans, geese, and ducks swim freely in here.

There are also hard-to-find parrots in various colors. As for the swans, there are plenty to see. They build large aviaries with trees inside, allowing the birds to fly freely from one branch to another.

Another point that we really love is the little fawns that have just been born. They are so adorable and run around happily. When we bring milk to feed them, they come right up to us eagerly. They’re just so endearing.

At this spot, during the winter, you can even host a barbecue party.

Cute rabbits that aren’t afraid of people, especially if there are carrots around.

After spending an hour at Katiliya Park for animal and nature viewing, if you’re up for a jungle trek or a run, this place is perfect. It might take a bit longer, though. But for now, let’s head to check out the accommodations. Our room is the Katiliya Suite, which emphasizes mountain views and is incredibly spacious, spanning 90 square meters including the balcony. One of the highlights here is the room size and unobstructed mountain views. Another aspect we appreciate is the spacious bathroom, with separate areas for the bathtub, rain shower, toilet, and sink, all proportioned perfectly.

If you’re staying at Katiliya, missing out on dining at “The Terrace” would be a huge loss. Besides the breathtaking views, the food here is excellent, both in terms of main courses and desserts. Let’s take a look at the atmosphere first before discussing the culinary delights.

The must-try dish is the Katiliya Pizza. It’s a pizza with a crust that resembles thin and crispy naan bread. The sauce used on the pizza is rich and flavorful, and it’s baked in a wood-fired oven. It’s a truly delicious homemade pizza that I highly recommend ordering.

Laab Muang Kua is a dish that those who enjoy bold Northern flavors would love. It’s a stir-fried version of laab, featuring intense flavors typical of Northern cuisine. It has a strong aroma of roasted dried chili and spices. The taste may be unfamiliar at first, but as you continue to eat, it will appeal to those who appreciate the aroma of spices because it’s packed full of them. The pork is lean, and it’s mildly spicy, just enough to give it a kick.

Both desserts are delicious. The chocolate lava with vanilla ice cream and the strawberry cheesecake with vanilla ice cream.

In the evenings in Chiang Rai, you’ll often find barbecue pits available at the lobby area for guests to use.

Waking up early to find the thick fog descending, even though winter hasn’t fully set in yet.

So, we got to enjoy our meal amidst this foggy ambiance. It was refreshing and pleasantly cool.

For breakfast, there is a variety of options available, including Thai and Western cuisine, along with pastries.

In the morning, they serve coffee made from Chiang Rai’s locally sourced coffee beans. It’s sure to please coffee enthusiasts who want to try the local brew.

On the way back, you can make a stop at Choui Fong Tea Plantation. It’s only about 1-2 kilometers away from the hotel.
