Luxurious like a million rice fields, RatiLanna Riverside Spa Resort, Chiang Mai.
On this trip to Chiang Mai, we have a wonderful accommodation that we’d love to share with our friends because we enjoyed it so much. That is the “RatiLanna Riverside Spa Resort, Chiang Mai,” a 5-star hotel that has been consecutively awarded by the Thailand Tourism Awards for 5 years. The hotel is situated along the Ping River, just 5 kilometers away from the airport, in the heart of Chiang Mai city. It is a resort filled with the rich history and intricate art of the Lanna culture, beautifully portraying the riverside way of life. With its contemporary luxury and 5-star service, our stay at the “RatiLanna Riverside Spa Resort, Chiang Mai” was truly exceptional and special.
The lobby of the “Rati Lanna” is truly the epitome of grandeur, magnificence, and uniqueness. We particularly loved the “Gupchang” or the area that served as a shelter in ancient times, shielding individuals from the sun. The architect has ingeniously reimagined the ancient “Gupchang,” making it contemporary yet preserving its beauty in accordance with the Lanna style.
After completing the check-in process, before heading to the elevator to go to the rooms, you can pass by a replica of a Buddha statue from Myanmar. You can take a moment to pay homage for blessings before settling into your accommodation.
The atmosphere of the hotel is relaxing and serene. In the afternoon, we enjoyed the hotel’s Afternoon Tea Set, which I must say was delicious, especially the chocolate cake and eclairs. The afternoon tea set comes with a choice of tea flavors that you can select yourself, along with refreshing beverages. The high tea set is served directly at the Malin Pavilion, a tranquil pavilion facing the Ping River, designed with ventilation to let the cool breeze pass through, making it comfortably breezy all day long.
In the center of the Malin Pavilion, there is a “Bunyan Kunda” pot, which is considered by Lanna people to be a symbol of prosperity and well-being. It is used to welcome guests and visitors to the village or city, symbolizing blessings for prosperity and abundance.
The swimming pool at the RatiLanna Riverside Spa Resort, Chiang Mai, is divided into zones for children and adults. Additionally, there are zones for jacuzzis and a pool bar, providing another chill-out spot within the hotel. Guests can enjoy swimming amidst lush gardens and relax on sun loungers while admiring the view of the Ping River.
Walking to see the pier is indeed a great idea. This spot is highly iconic, featuring ancient-style boats modeled after the “Maeng Jong” boats used in the Ping River basin. It reflects the ancient trading lifestyle by river transport or the use of Maeng Jong boats for travel to the ancient Lanna Kingdom. In the morning, the hotel arranges almsgiving activities for guests, symbolizing an offering to monks. This morning, we are prepared to wake up early to participate in offering alms to the monks.
The atmosphere around the hotel is filled with numerous picturesque spots, perfect for photography enthusiasts. Anyone who enjoys taking photos will definitely have a blast capturing moments here.
We really like this bar too. It’s cool without being too light.
The Mira Restaurant is an all-day dining restaurant offering both Thai fusion and international cuisine. It will be our dinner venue tonight. The restaurant boasts a romantic riverside atmosphere.
The meal you’ll be having will be a Western set, served starting from appetizers, followed by soup, then the main course, and finally dessert. We must say that the truffle soup is incredibly delicious, especially when paired with warm, freshly baked bread. We highly recommend trying it!
As for this dish, it’s a fusion cuisine: grilled shrimp salad served in a hollowed-out watermelon. It’s a creative dish that you must try!
Chilled beverages, perhaps?
The main dish is a large piece of salmon served with squid ink cream sauce. The salmon is both dense and fresh, while the creamy spaghetti complements it perfectly with its smooth texture.
Dessert-wise, you’re in for a treat with our mango mousse cheesecake. It’s a flavor you’ll definitely enjoy just as much!
Let’s take a look at the luxurious Riverside Garden Suite, a favorite among celebrity escapes and often used as a venue for magazine photo shoots. Every angle of this suite is stunning, with its expansive 232 square meters of space. It’s a large suite perfect for relaxation, complete with a private swimming pool, a luxurious jacuzzi, and a beautifully decorated living room featuring the iconic “Gupchang” element.
The Executive Suite boasts luxurious decor with signature Lanna textiles, showcasing the essence of luxury Lanna theme. What we particularly love about this room is its spacious balcony offering stunning views of the river. Additionally, it offers comprehensive amenities, such as a separate bedroom and living area, a dining table, a bathroom with separate bathtub and rain shower, as well as his and hers bathroom sinks. Moreover, there’s a work desk set up perfectly for both work and relaxation, allowing you to enjoy the view of the Ping River while working.
The Deluxe Riverside room, where you stayed, offers a similar view of the Ping River, but it’s more of a partial view, meaning you don’t get the full panoramic view of the river. However, you get to enjoy views of the swimming pool and lush greenery, which adds freshness to your experience. The interior is adorned with warm, luxurious tones, immersing you in the ambiance of the Lanna region. The room is beautifully decorated with various details that subtly incorporate the Lanna culture. Additionally, the room features a bathtub separate from the rain shower, providing you with a luxurious bathing experience.
This morning, we participated in offering alms to the monks at the waterfront. The hotel provided us with almsgiving sets for the occasion.
The breakfast at Rati Lanna Riverside Spa Resort is indeed another highlight of the stay. We appreciate the high quality and variety of food available, especially the inclusion of local dishes. We enjoyed dishes like “Kang Hang Lay” (Northern Thai pork curry) and stir-fried noodles, alongside Central Thai and Western options, all of which were equally delightful.
Just a suggestion, if you can wake up early, it would be great. You’ll get a chance to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view.
Before checking out, we decided to try the massage service at Rati Lanna Spa. They offer unique treatments including traditional Thai massage and gentle oil massages. The skilled massage therapists blend healing techniques and massage artistry, resulting in numerous awards such as the Aasen Spa Award and many accolades. The spa is located in a tranquil zone of the resort, surrounded by lush trees and simulated waterfall streams, creating a complete sensory experience with its sights, tastes, scents, and sounds.
For its location, Ratilanna Riverside Spa Resort, Chiang Mai, is situated right in the heart of Chiang Mai province. It’s convenient to travel to places like Warorot Market, Kad Luang, Night Bazaar, Wat Ket, Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Phra Singh, as well as popular chic cafes and restaurants. There’s so much to explore in this area that staying for less than a month might not be enough!
