This is a resort filled with love where we can feel the love from nature – the sea, the sandy beach, the sun, and every blooming tree and flower, all created with love. Everything, from the natural surroundings to the man-made structures, is crafted with care and generously bestowed upon us. Perhaps it’s the atmosphere that makes this trip of ours effortlessly romantic. Momtri Villa Royal, a 5-star boutique resort located on the hills by Kata Beach, is one of the few hotels that allows you to witness both sunrise and sunset. The beautiful villas seamlessly blend Thai artistic elements with a comfortable villa concept, creating a relaxing atmosphere by the sea.
We arrived ready for a welcoming experience like special guests, and the Beach Wing Suite is the recommended accommodation that we’d like to suggest trying. Previously, we stayed in the Royal Wing Suite and were already impressed, but this time was even more extraordinary. The Beach Wing Suite, because from the bed itself, you can enjoy a direct view of the sea.
The spacious room is elegantly decorated with a luxurious and comfortable Thai contemporary style. The large bathtub is excellent, and, importantly, the soap and shampoo are wonderfully fragrant.
I’d like to say that the terrace is our favorite feature of the Beach Wing Suite. The daybed is as comfortable as the main bed, offering a beautiful view of the picturesque Kata Noi Beach curve. The sensation of the gentle breeze and sunlight tells us that this is indeed a seaside dream retreat. From our room, we can stroll down the private staircase to reach the beach. The fine white sand of Kata Beach and the clear water provide an ideal setting for snorkeling, allowing us to see small fishes. Enjoying the sound of the waves is also a delight.
Around Momtri Villa Royal, there is a lush canopy of well-maintained trees providing ample shade. The resort is expansive, and despite the various levels, walking is not tiring. There is much to admire with the abundance of greenery. However, it’s worth noting that with so many trees, there may be some mosquitoes in the garden area.
The hotel’s swimming pool complex consists of a total of three pools. One of them, located near the restaurant, creates a cascading effect, giving the impression of layered waterfalls. Art installations are strategically placed, enhancing the overall visual appeal. This contributes to making the resort truly unique. For us, the infinity pool serves as the perfect spot for capturing breathtaking sunset photos, although it’s more than just a serious swimming pool—it’s a picturesque experience.
There are other pools that are more suitable for swimming or sunbathing. Whether you want to take a refreshing swim or soak up the sun, these areas would be the perfect choice.
During the sunset, don’t miss the chance to visit the most beautiful sunset viewpoint, which is right at Momtri’s Kitchen. The restaurant stands out not only for its breathtaking landscape but also for its exceptional Thai cuisine and wines. It’s perfect for a romantic dinner under the candlelight or even for celebrating special occasions like weddings. Trust me, the atmosphere here is so captivating that the memories will linger vividly for many years to come.
The dinner was delicious, especially the calamarie and the crab curry with noodles.
The breakfast served at Momtri’s Kitchen is presented as a small but quality-packed mini-buffet. It features freshly baked bread, a variety of cheeses, cold cuts, assorted beans, along with jams and Nutella.
And there is also an a la carte menu available for selection. We ordered from the Asian menu, opting for fried rice and seafood stir-fried noodles. Particularly, the seafood stir-fried noodles were incredibly delicious.
For art enthusiasts, Momtri Villa Royal is a must-visit. The resort showcases a diverse collection of artworks, including both antique treasures and a variety of contemporary pieces. Art installations are interspersed throughout every corner of the resort, earning it the title of an “Art Hotel.” You might find it to be an immersive experience surrounded by such artistic diversity.
