Relax in a luxurious villa amidst lush green rice fields, surrounded by mountains at Thanyathara Resort, Chiang Mai.

Thantara Resort Chiang Mai perfectly captures the essence of Chiang Mai, offering a complete experience as a cultural, natural, and relaxing destination. The resort blends seamlessly with its surroundings, featuring luxurious villas nestled in the heart of organic rice fields, alongside a tranquil pool, and surrounded by mountains. With a variety of activities available, Thantara Resort Chiang Mai provides a holistic lifestyle retreat, embracing the concept of “Eat Well, Live Well.” Once you stay here, you’ll wish to remain within the hotel grounds, not wanting to venture anywhere else.

Thantara Resort Chiang Mai is situated in the Sansai Kamphaeng district, approximately 20 minutes away from the city center. It offers a resort-style accommodation set amidst the natural beauty of Chiang Mai. The resort spans several acres and includes a variety of amenities such as pool villas, lobby, restaurants, cafes, organic rice fields, rice mill, swimming pool, organic vegetable garden, ancient temple, and expansive relaxation areas suitable for biking or jogging. Additionally, guests are welcome to use scooters or golf carts for recreational purposes. It can be considered as a new kingdom of relaxation in Chiang Mai.

The pool villa we stayed in is the “Sanctuary Villa,” offering views of the rice fields and a private pool. The room includes amenities such as a walk-in closet, complimentary minibar, and wide windows that extend from the floor to the ceiling, allowing us to enjoy the unobstructed views of the rice fields and private pool. It’s the kind of villa that one night is not enough. After staying here, you wouldn’t want to go anywhere else. I recommend a minimum of 2 nights for a truly delightful experience. Spend one night enjoying the villa to the fullest – swimming, soaking in the tub, reading a book, or lounging on the soft bed. You can also order food to be served in the villa from Thann Restaurant. The other night, you can have fun with the various activities offered by the resort, which are quite diverse.

The first activity that we enjoyed immensely was the afternoon tea, set amidst the scenic backdrop of the swimming pool and the rice fields. The delicious pastries complemented the picturesque view perfectly.

In the late afternoon, when the shade and cool breeze set in, I highly recommend cycling. Bicycles are conveniently available in front of every villa at no extra cost. For those seeking a more exciting experience, there are golf carts and scooters ready nearby. It’s truly enjoyable and exhilarating, especially when the wind gently touches your face. During the breezy moments, riding a golf cart through the rice fields is both enjoyable and soothing. If you wish to explore further, you can contact the lobby, and they provide this service with additional charges. Additionally, there’s an activity involving rice planting. I appreciate the fact that they provide a bathroom for refreshing and washing up after the activity.

It’s a fun and informative experience to learn that cultivating rice in a full field is quite challenging. The farmers must bend and stoop for extended periods, leading to back discomfort. The rice grown here is organic, and the resort produces its own aromatic and soft rice. It’s a recommended product that you can purchase and take home.

Furthermore, the resort places great emphasis on sustainability, environmental friendliness, and community involvement. They have small vegetable plots that yield produce used within the resort. There’s also a chicken farm for egg production.

During the turn-down service, aside from the delicious almond cookies and the crisply made bed, they also provide a set of traditional Northern Thai pajamas for you to wear. These pajamas are incredibly comfortable, and I found myself wearing them throughout the day. If you’re fortunate enough to stay here, you’ll be captivated by this historical site, which was originally an ancient temple. The owners have beautifully restored it into Wat Tham Chai, a place for morning merit-making and almsgiving. In the morning, you can participate in the almsgiving ceremony at this location. The resort can arrange for offerings and ceremonial items for you to partake in the merit-making rituals.

When it comes to dining, Thantara Resort in Chiang Mai certainly doesn’t disappoint. In the evening, we had our meal at Thann Restaurant, where we could enjoy the surrounding views of the resort. The atmosphere was particularly enchanting as the sun was setting. The Thai fusion cuisine offered at the restaurant was exceptional, with every dish recommended by the chef proving to be delicious.

Breakfast is served at Thann Restaurant as usual, with an à la carte menu. The variety of dishes served is unlimited, allowing you to enjoy both savory and sweet options continuously.

Ending the day with the evening lights reflecting the luxurious and splendid atmosphere of Thantara Resort in Chiang Mai.
