Trip…Dern Din Du Dao , feel the cold wind at Wang Nam Khiao
Wang Nam Khiao is renowned as a world-class eco-tourism destination. The climate is comfortably cool throughout the year, with occasional drops to a minimum of 5 degrees Celsius in the coldest winter months. On this trip, we would like to experience the cool weather together—walking, exploring the land, gazing at the stars, and staying at a resort on the hilltop of Horse Saddle Plateau in Wang Nam Khiao District. Although we may not have reached the peak of winter during our visit, the temperature is around 20 degrees Celsius in the daytime. Our accommodation is designed in a homestay style, with individual houses built on a high hill offering panoramic views of the Horse Saddle Plateau. Each dwelling is strategically spaced apart, ensuring an uncrowded and immersive experience in the midst of the lush green mountains, extending as far as the eye can see.
The highlights of Dern Din Du Dao here are the beautiful mountain views and the closeness to nature. The sunset is stunning, offering multiple picturesque photo spots. The entrance to the small hill is easily accessible, suitable for small cars. The lobby is right in front, and after checking in, you can conveniently drive to park near your accommodation.
Stargazing House/Moon-viewing House is highly recommended for your stay here. It comfortably accommodates two people. The house is octagonal, made of wood, and situated on a high hill with a spectacular view. Upon entering the house and opening the curtains, the panoramic view of the mountains is breathtaking. The interior is spacious, and the bathroom features a separate shower. All amenities are provided, including air conditioning, television, refrigerator, hairdryer, water heater, soap, shampoo, and charging outlets. Stargazing House/Moon-viewing House also has a balcony walkway around the house. You can enjoy lying down and stargazing in the middle of the night.

During the late evening, just before the sun sets, it’s challenging to spot the herd of deer foraging in the grassy fields near the resort. They are visible from afar, moving stealthily. However, at times, they venture closer, allowing us to observe them from the vantage point of our Dern Din Du Dao location.
Dern Din Du Dao is truly one of the most beautiful and romantic sunset viewpoints. The golden sky, serene atmosphere, and quiet surroundings make it a truly special moment.
You can definitely satisfy your cravings for Thai cuisine here, and the food is delicious. The authentic Thai flavors are well-presented, and the atmosphere is delightful. Dining under the evening lights creates a charming ambiance. Highly recommended dishes include Tom Yum Kung (spicy shrimp soup), Yum Het Ruam (mixed mushroom salad), and stir-fried vegetables.
In addition to other room types, there are accommodations like the “Baan Chomnapa” (Stargazing House) and “Modern Loft-style House.” Both can accommodate up to 2 people and can be supplemented with an additional 2 rooms. These rooms also offer stunning views, allowing you to observe the wind turbine landscape.
“Moon Terrace House” is a two-story accommodation located on the hilltop with beautiful views. The house features a design with glass doors and windows surrounding it, creating a spacious and bright atmosphere. It has a balcony that wraps around the house, and the staircase is separated, leading up and down from the lower-level room. The lower-level room in the Moon Terrace House can accommodate up to 3 people, and if additional beds are needed, it can be supplemented with 2 more beds.

The breakfast options include both Thai and American breakfast. While the Thai menu may not offer an extensive variety, everything is delicious, especially the mushroom soup and stir-fried vegetables. Enjoying them hot in the cool morning air adds a refreshing boost to start the day.
After checking out, don’t forget to make a stop at “22 cafe,” a charming café with delightful decorations, full of stylish and vibrant details. It’s a favorite spot for those who enjoy taking pictures while indulging in lovely pastries. There are plenty of photo corners, and the various treats like bingsu, toast cakes, and more are absolutely delicious.
